Preparation for Adult Living
Capitol Credit Union, in partnership with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, is proud to announce the launch of its new PAL (Preparation for Adult Living) program, designed to support foster youth who are aging out of the system. This innovative initiative aims to provide these young adults with the financial education, resources, and mentorship they need to successfully transition to independent living.
Supporting Foster Youth with Financial Empowerment
Each year, thousands of young adults leave the foster care system, often without the necessary skills and resources to manage their finances or secure stable housing and employment. The PAL program at Capitol Credit Union addresses this critical gap by offering comprehensive financial education and support.
Key Features of the PAL Program
- Financial Literacy: Foster youth will have access to various forms of financial education covering essential topics such as budgeting, saving, credit management, and financial planning.
- Checking & Savings Accounts: Capitol Credit Union will assist in the set-up of checking & savings accounts for program participants, providing them with a safe and reliable way to manage their money.
- Mentor Programs: Each participant will be paired with a dedicated mentor from the credit union. These mentors will offer guidance, support, and practical advice to help them navigate their financial journey.
